Trauma

Trauma Root Causes Have you invested in regular therapy, possibly for months or years but still have the same reoccuring issues? It could be that the root cause of the issue has not been addressed. In Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) held trauma deserves special mention as it is often a major contributor to the root cause of physical, mental and emotional issues.  Accumulating Trauma Over the  period of our lives, from our conception onwards we may accumulate experiences of mild overwhelm to extreme trauma. These may be in the form of prebirth and birth stress patterns, accidents or sports injuries, relationship breakups, family, financial or work stress, not allowing ourselves to express or feel our emotions and not receiving the love and support we needed especially during our childhood.  Unresolved Experiences If unresolved, these experiences can get stored as “held stress patterns” in the body and mind. This can have a major effect on our health and vitality. In the physical body, changes often manifest as restrictions or tensions in the musculoskeletal system, impaired digestion, imbalances in hormones, impared immunity and the nervous  system being in a constant state of activation (fight, flight or freeze mode). Impact of held Trauma Common physical symptoms  that result include: musculoskeletal conditions, headaches, fatigue, hormonal conditions and impaired ability to fight infections. Equally there can be mental and emotional affects include insomnia, anxiety, depression, hypervigilance, emotional outbursts, feeling stuck in time with an inability to be present or move forward in life. Trauma Release Some experiences of trauma can resolve with self help or with the support from family and friends, but at other times it may be necessary to get professional help to facilitate the release of held trauma. BCST is a powerful tool to deeply facilitate the release of trauma in a unique way that is gentle, safe and effective without the need  to experience the original intensity of the event. It will also suit those who find it difficult to or don’t want to talk about the trauma or are not conscious of what may be affecting them. BCST is also a great therapy to use along side talk therapies.   Freeing Ourselves It can take time, effort and resources to heal but the benefits of freeing ourselves from held trauma are numerous and include:  connecting to our health and vitality, feeling calmer with greater resiliency towards life’s ups and downs, a more harmonious and connected relationship with ourselves and greater happiness in life.
